Day 2: Omoide Yokocho, Shinjuku

Day 2: Edo Wonderland, Nikko (Part 2)

Omoide Yokocho
Omoide Yokocho
Omoide Yokocho, a little alleyway along the tracks in northwest of Shinjuku station, that also known as Piss Alley.  Very popular narrow lanes that piled up with lots of tiny eateries place serving simple and common food like yakitori, ramen, soba and more.  Heaps of people, local especially, just chilling out with friends while chomping some food and sake or beer on hands here.

Sake, fried egg and neck cow
We didn't order much from this first place that we visited as the cook wasn't welcoming and completely ignoring customers.  We need to actually approach him to place an order.  Some others can't even stand him, two people next to us left the shop just after a couple of minutes sitting down here.  And another couple were a little bit aggressive reacting the ignorance of the guy by taking the meat and vegetables skewers that on display and reachable then forcely handed to the guy to cook them.  The cook gave them the most sour grin like he did nothing wrong and set a side the skewers they handed and still continue doing what he was doing before.

I definitely wasn't expect any Japanese hospitality to be this rude.  That's why not wanting to ruin our lovely night, we moved on to the next shop after we finish our little order.

Special set menu, Pork tummy stew and Vienna sausage

I saw lots of people having that mouthwatering-looking stew, so absolutely gotta try those.  They turned out be gorgeous little stew.  Very delicious, flavoursome and the pork tummy was cooked perfectly and very tender.

Stay tuned for the next blog still in Japan:
